Mrs. Professor commented, as we were trying to absorb this latest disturbing update, that in some ways it would have been easier if the damn house had just burned. We'd at least know what state we were in, then. This was such a little fire, but the ramifications keep spreading and overtaking each succeeding layer of our planning. This way, we have hard decisions, no obvious decision tree, and all of our worldly goods to consider as we try to make the decisions. |

It truly is the in-betweeny states, when things don't seem as though they should be as bad as they're turning out, that are the most frustrating. Especially when you keep trying to adapt to the new wrinkles being thrown at you...
I would wholeheartedly agree with Mrs. Professor. As much as that would have sucked, you would have known it for what it was and had a much clearer plan of action.
BTW, I have a friend who has a beautiful 1 bedroom apt. in her house that she's looking to rent. She's in Canton, right off Rt. 24. Being as you're friends-of, she's likely be willing to rent for the three months that you'd need a more permanent home.
Oooh -- Follow up on that! I wish there were some way I could help.
How big is this apartment, 2 BRs? It's probably going to be functional at best once it's renovated, maybe you should start looking in earnest. For all you know your landlord will wind up losing the house due to all the piling-up expenses, and then where will you be? His insurance will fuck him if at all possible.
I'm sick of Baltimore after two decades (1989-2009!), but for a quarter mill you can still get a large colonial or even a Victorian in a so-so neighborhood.
hugs probably won't work here but I do hope things gets sorted for you. Do you get any monetary compensation for this or is that just a laugh? | |
